New data from Guessous et al. has demonstrated that caffeine intake does not affect blood pressure in non-smokers.
We would like to provide you with the following quote from Dr Euan Paul, Executive Director of the British Coffee Association about the implications of this study.
Dr Euan Paul, Executive Director of the British Coffee Association says, “This study adds to the growing weight of evidence which shows that moderate coffee consumption, of 4 – 5 cups a day, does not affect an individual’s blood pressure and supports the advice from the British Heart Foundation. Further research is however required to full understand these findings in both non-smokers and smokers. Pregnant women should moderate coffee drinking to 2 – 3 cups per day in line with guidance by the NHS.”
